The next 2 weeks are full of goodbyes. There are so many people to be grateful for. The ladies from this years Bible Study had me over for lunch on Monday and on Tuesday we had a splendid day trip. Their friendships have been invaluable this year.
This weekend I'm going on vacation with a family I've really enjoyed. The father is my dentist and the dentist who filled a couple cavities without Novocaine. I trust him. Ha. But I'd never do that again. We are planning to hike, ride bikes and spend a day at a huge water park. I can hardly wait for the water park! The water park is one of those secret wishes I had--I wish I could go there before I leave--and now I'm going with some great friends.
I'm anticipating next week to be one of rest and sadness. I will make my last visit to Busan to be with the Benedictine Sisters. Despite the language barrier I love entering into their rhythm of life. The community prayer is wonderful and inspiring. I will miss this! If there was only one reason for my coming to Korea (and there is more than one), it was to meet and develop a relationship with these woman.
When I called to set up my final visit with the sisters I was overjoyed by some shocking news. Sister Anna Marie, the woman whose leadership and hospitality has impacted me the most, is moving to New York on August 31. In June we had talked about whether she'd ever come to the USA. At that time she said it was impossible. The week after we had this conversation in June she got her moving orders! We are moving to the USA within a week of each other. In an ironic twist we are exchanging places; she will be the foreigner as I become the native. I only pray she will be welcomed the way she welcomed foreigners into her own home. It will be so much easier to up with her in the coming few years! What a gift!
August 28th is coming quick. I look forward to a BBQ at NTS and church at Jacob's Well on my first weekend in Kansas City!
Lunch with the ladies....
