Jump and Breath: English Camp

I took the "red eye" flight from Siem Riep to Incheon(Seoul) airport on Saturday night.  It was a sleepless night.  While I didn't see sleep I did see a brilliant sky full of stars.   "I can catch up on sleep later," I thought to myself as I fell into an awe-filled star gaze. Orion waved to me and I waved back.  The stars faded away into a spectacular sunrise.   God's creativity never ceases to amaze me.  When I think I've seen the epitome of beauty he reveals more!  After making my way back to Cheonan I caught people in time to be invited out to lunch and coffee.

It was such an odd feeling sitting at lunch with 2 Korean friends and a New Zealand friend.  One day I'm in Siem Riep and less than 12 hours later I'm eating kimchi in Korea.  I jumped from one world and into another.  And then by 4pm that same day I "jumped" into English camp meetings and have only now come up for a long breath.

Camp is great this year.  We are half way done after a week and I'm tired by not exhausted.  Having an incredible camp director makes such a difference.  Go Jolie!!   A week down and a week to go!

We are learning how to talk about family and how to shop.  These are two pretty significant topics when you think about it.  Everyone has a family and most people love to shop!

I usually prefer the middle school kids over the elementary kids.  I was assigned 11 and 12 year old!  "Oh no!  I'm not a kid person."  Well, that is changing. They have been great.  Their energy, when directed well, puts off so much "life".   This makes class enjoyable.  I feel lucky to have high level English speakers.  It is funny, it really makes a the difference when they understand you!   The kids I'm teaching this week have higher English conversation abilities than most of the university students.  Their courage is greater too.  We can sing and be silly and most don't even question it.

It is hard to believe this is the final KNU teaching assignment.   It is looking like I'll be in KC for Labor Day!  My stomach is already growling for BBQ.  Hamburgers, potato salad, kimchi and watermelon.   Oh, wait, we don't each kimchi in KC. I'll have to get that straight.

O, how you will miss kimchi! It looks like you are having fun in your last teaching assignment. Even I will miss having someone in Korea. You have all come home. God bless in your last days there. Looking forward to seeing you. Love, Sharon

HI! Good to get your comment. Yoni is still in Korea so not quite everyone has left. But one by one we are making our exit. I never dreamed when you left that I'd stay on as long as I have. Blessings! Julene
